P186, 000,000 Million of MJ Destroyed in Kalinga

Camp Dangwa, Benguet: The unstoppable campaign against illegal drugs in the Cordillera Region particularly on Marijuana resulted to the destruction of an estimated DDB value of one hundred eighty six million (P186, 000,000.00) pesos of marijuana plants and seedlings.

The composite teams of Cordillera PNP and PDEA agents with a total strength of 200 personnel from Kalinga Police under the OIC, Psupt Virgilio Laya; Regional Mobile Group led by PSI Bobby Glen Ganipac; PDEA Regional Office 2 led by Pcinsp Primitivo Bayongan Jr; and RCIDU 2 led by Pcinsp Geofrey Convento proceeded at the boundaries of Quezon and Kalinga Provinces particularly at Sitio Bangabanga, Tabuk Kalinga on or about 4:00 am of July 23, 2009 for the conduct of marijuana eradication operation.

The teams arrived at the site and immediately scoured the area for the possible arrest of cultivators of marijuana plants but yielded negative. However, the group uprooted fully grown marijuana plants and seedlings planted in an estimated land area of more or less 60,000 square meters. The illegal drugs destroyed on site have an estimated value of (P186, 000,000.00) pesos while some samples were brought to Kalinga police Provincial Office for ceremonial burning.

The success of the operation is a result of intelligence information with corresponding sketches provided by PDEA-CAR to RAIDSOTG-COR which directed the operatives of Kalinga PPO to validate and conduct the operation. (PRO-COR)
